Artwork guide
Files that print the way they look.
A few rules keep your cards sharp and trimmed cleanly. Our uploader checks most of these for you.
- Shaded edge: bleed, trimmed off
- Dashed line: trim
- Dotted line: safe area
File type
Upload PDF, PNG or JPG. PNG is best for logos and text. Upload separate front and back files. PDFs are not drawn in the preview here, so we check them by hand.
Size, bleed and safe area
A standard business card trims to 3.5 x 2 in. Extend backgrounds 1/8 in (0.125 in) past every edge for bleed, so the file is 3.75 x 2.25 in. Keep text and logos at least 1/8 in inside the trim line.
Resolution
Export at 300 dpi at final size. For a business card that is 1125 x 675 px including bleed. Lower resolution gets a warning because it may print soft.
File size
Up to 20 MB per file. This limit is provisional and may change.
Stretch stays off
Fill crops to bleed; Fit keeps the whole image inside trim. Scaling cannot add detail to low-resolution files. Safety checks look at image bounds, not at your text or logos.
